FINANCIAL APPEAL
You are a valued visitor. You are one of the users that visit more than 37,000 pages a month. This service has provided revolutionary socialist analysis and answers to the key events in world politics since1999. These have included:
rapid eye-witness accounts of every major (and many minor!) anti-capitalist actions from Prague in 2000 to the demonstrations and forums of the ESF in Florence and Paris in 2002 and 2003. From the barricades of Nice in December 2000 and from the battles on the streets of Gottenburg and Genoa in the summer of 2001 our reporters have captured the essence of the events because we have been part of them, trying to shape them and make them successful.
the repeated mass strikes in Italy over the last two years that have rocked the Berlusconi government.
the Argentine revolutionary days of December 2001 were with the help of comrades in the Fraccion Trotskyista inside Argentina brought to a global English speaking audience. The Popular Assemblies, the actions of the piqueteros, and above all, the unique flavour of the factory occupations in Zanon and Brukman were reported swiftly, sympathetically and critically in the newswire.
the newswire brought you the LFIs incisive reaction to 9/11 within a day of this momentous turning point in history. The whole subsequent US war on al-Qaida, Afghanistan and Iraq were found first on the newswire before it was printed in other publications of the LFI.
the debacle of the French left when it decided to vote for Chirac to stop Le Pen in 2002 and the recent series of major strikes to defend pensions.
in the contributions from our German and Austrian reporters the newswire has brought you unique coverage from inside the trade union and anti-capitalist left
But the newswire has not simply reported on unfolding class struggles on the streets. The newswire has entered into the major debates that have taken place in the major forums of the anti-capitalist movements as they have unfolded.
Our future plans build on this impressive track record. We want to be able to more regularly send out mid-week or even daily updates in critical political situations such as we did in 2003 with strikes in France against the pension plans of the Raffarin government.
But this takes money. We do not want to go to a subscription only service as many e-services have done; but we do need an injection of cash to help keep together and expand the journalistic team that allows us to provide this free service.
We are currently building up an archive on the website of valuable but long out of print works by the LRCI sections: Death Agony of the Fourth International, Degenerated Revolution, more Trotskyist International articles from 1988-98.
And in November we launched a new journal- Fifth International to carry in-depth articles and reviews on contemporary capitalism, the anti-capitalist movement, key developments in social democracy.
So we want you do make a donation. If you have enjoyed the site over the last three years, if you have found out things here that you did not come across anywhere else, if you were inspired by what you read or were given pause for thought then please make a donation.
